Tobey Robertson

Chief Communications Officer

Tobey Robertson is a recognized healthcare public relations, marketing, and communications leader. She joined WISE Healthcare in 2018 as chief communications officer. In that role she is responsible for advancing the public-facing goals of the organization, including public relations, media relations, marketing, and communications. Tobey joins WISE after serving for nearly three years as vice president, marketing and communications, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital (MLKCH), a brand-new safety net hospital serving South Los Angeles. At MLKCH Tobey developed integrated marketing and communications strategies for the hospital and its service lines. Her media relations expertise resulted in the hospital’s obtaining positive local and national media coverage. Prior to MLKCH, Tobey was the director of business development at Ballard Rehabilitation Hospital, an acute rehabilitation hospital in San Bernardino.

Her introduction to healthcare marketing began in 2002 when she joined Community Hospital of San Bernardino (CHSB), a private, nonprofit safety net hospital. During her nine-year tenure as CHSB director of marketing and communications, Tobey launched numerous successful marketing campaigns, leading to service line growth, and enhanced community awareness and utilization. She also served as the hospital’s public policy and advocacy liaison, and worked closely with elected officials to protect the hospital’s interests. She has a passion for expanding healthcare access and services to underserved communities.
Her career experience also includes a long tenure at the Los Angeles Times, where she served in a variety of management roles to successfully grow circulation and advertising revenue. She is an accomplished strategic marketing and communications professional and has earned numerous awards for her work from the Public Relations Society of America, Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Association, and more.
Tobey has a bachelor’s degree in literature and creative writing from Dartmouth College. During her senior year of high school, in her hometown of Westlake, Ohio, she was selected to study for a year abroad. She lived with a family in Mar del Plata, Argentina, where she became fluent in Spanish. Today, she lives in Norco, California, with her husband and two adult children.
